Tame
The taming system in To Be A allows players to capture creatures and mounts on a 7x13 grid (91 slots) to add them to their inventory. Captured creatures can provide bonuses to attack and defense stats, and some can be used as mounts. The taming grid refreshes every 20 seconds, repopulating with creatures based on specific rarity probabilities.
Overview
The taming system involves interacting with creatures that spawn on a 7x13 grid. Players can increase the capture probability using specific food items or attempt to capture creatures using designated taming items. The grid is checked periodically, and if empty or on cooldown, it repopulates with creatures like Cow, Chicken, War Bear, Donkey, Noble Lion, Panda, Terror Bird, or Titanica.
- Taming Grid: 91 slots (7x13) where creatures spawn.
- Actions: Increase capture probability or attempt to capture a creature.
- Cooldown: Grid repopulates every 20 seconds if empty or when the respawn timer expires.
- Rarity: Creatures have specific spawn probabilities (e.g., 0.01% for Noble Lion, 0.6% for Chicken).
Creatures and Taming Items
Each creature requires a specific taming item to attempt capture and a food item to increase capture probability. Capture success depends on the current probability (e.g., 50% probability = 50% chance of success). Food items increase probability by 1% per item used (up to 100%).
Creature | Taming Item | Food Item | Spawn Probability |
---|---|---|---|
Cow | Leather Whip | Bunch of Wheat | 0.3% |
Chicken | Cage | Corncob | 0.6% |
War Bear | Trap | Fish | 0.05% |
Donkey | Reins | Apple | 0.1% |
Noble Lion | Lion Heart | Ham | 0.01% |
Panda | Bamboo Leaves | Leaves | 0.03% |
Terror Bird | Corn On A Stick | Corn Flour | 0.02% |
Titanica | Giant Shrimp | Shrimp | 0.02% |
How Taming Works
The taming grid is a 7x13 layout where creatures spawn randomly based on their rarity. Players can interact with a creature in a slot by selecting an item from their inventory and performing one of two actions:
- Increase Probability: Use a food item to increase the capture probability by 1% per item (max 100%). You can use up to 100 food items at once, limited by your inventory. For example, using 50 Bunch of Wheat on a Cow increases its capture probability to 50%.
- Capture: Use a taming item to attempt capturing the creature. Success depends on the current probability (e.g., 50% probability = 50% chance of success). If it fails, the creature escapes, and the slot becomes empty. Each attempt consumes one taming item.
After a successful or failed capture, the slot is marked as "captured" or "empty," and the grid may repopulate after a 20-second cooldown. Captured creatures are added to your inventory and may grant attack or defense bonuses, depending on the creature's stats.
Grid Repopulation
The taming grid repopulates every 20 seconds if it is empty or when the respawn timer expires. The probability of each creature spawning in a slot is as follows:
< GrownCreature | Spawn Probability |
---|---|
Empty | 99% |
Chicken | 0.6% |
Cow | 0.3% |
Donkey | 0.1% |
War Bear | 0.05% |
Panda | 0.03% |
Terror Bird | 0.02% |
Titanica | 0.02% |
Noble Lion | 0.01% |
Creature Bonuses
Some creatures provide attack or defense bonuses when captured, which are added to your character's stats. These bonuses are defined in the creature's data and applied automatically upon successful capture. Check the Bestiary for specific creature stats.
