Training

The training system in To Be A allows players to improve their character's attack and defense stats by training on a 7x16 grid, with a central slot occupied by Training Ferumbras. Players can choose to train for specific durations, costing gold, and earn training points based on their vocation and outfit boosts.

Overview

The training system enables characters to enhance their base attack and defense stats by engaging in training sessions against Training Ferumbras, located in the central slot of a 7x16 grid (112 slots). Training consumes gold and requires an available slot on the grid. Points earned contribute to stat levels, with a maximum of 100 per stat. The system supports different training durations and provides vocation-specific point rates.

  • Training Grid: 7x16 grid (112 slots) with Training Ferumbras in the center (slot 56).
  • Stats: Attack and Defense, each with a maximum level of 100.
  • Cost: Gold is deducted based on the training duration chosen.
  • Cooldown: Characters cannot train while hunting or in a PvP arena.
  • Vocation Impact: Point gains vary by vocation (Knight, Archer, Mage, or their promoted versions).
  • Outfit Boosts: Certain outfits provide a boost multiplier to training points.

Training Options

Players can select from four training durations, each with a specific gold cost. The cost is calculated at 1 gold per second of training.

Duration Gold Cost
30 Minutes 9,000 Gold
60 Minutes 18,000 Gold
240 Minutes 72,000 Gold
360 Minutes 108,000 Gold

Point Calculation

Training points are earned per minute, with rates depending on the character's vocation and the stat being trained. Outfits may provide a boost multiplier to increase points gained. The formula for points required to reach a level is:

Points = (50 / 3) * (Level³ - 6 * Level² + 17 * Level - 12)

Points are converted to levels, with a maximum level of 100 per stat. The following table shows the base points per minute by vocation:

Vocation Attack Points/Min Defense Points/Min
Knight / Elite Knight 20 40
Archer / Royal Archer 40 20
Mage / Master Mage 30 30

Outfit Boost: Some outfits provide a boost multiplier (e.g., 0.1 for 10% extra points). The total points gained are calculated as:

Total Points = (Minutes Trained * Points per Minute) + Floor((Minutes Trained * Points per Minute) * Boost Multiplier)

How Training Works

The training grid is a 7x16 layout with Training Ferumbras in the central slot (index 56). Players can start training by selecting a stat (attack or defense) and a duration, provided they have enough gold and are not engaged in other activities (hunting or PvP). Here's the process:

  • Start Training: Choose attack or defense and a duration (30, 60, 240, or 360 minutes). The system deducts the gold cost and assigns the character to a random free slot on the grid.
  • Visual Feedback: During training, characters display animations based on their vocation (e.g., sword for Knights, bow for Archers, wand for Mages). Defense training shows a smoke effect when hit by Ferumbras' fireball.
  • Cooldown: Training locks the character into a cooldown period until the session ends. The character cannot hunt or enter PvP during this time.
  • Completion: When the training duration ends, points are awarded, and the character's stat level is updated. The slot is cleared, and the character is removed from the grid.
  • Slot Availability: If no slots are available (except the central slot), training cannot start.
  • Stat Cap: Both attack and defense stats are capped at level 100, calculated from total training points.

Training Animations

Training includes visual effects to enhance immersion, tailored to the character's vocation and stat being trained:

  • Knight/Elite Knight: Sword animations for attack, shield/smoke for defense.
  • Archer/Royal Archer: Bow projectile animations for attack, shield/smoke for defense.
  • Mage/Master Mage: Wand projectile animations for attack, shield/smoke for defense.
  • Training Ferumbras: Launches fireballs at characters training defense, triggering a smoke effect on impact.

Animations are displayed on the training grid, with projectiles moving toward or from the central Training Ferumbras slot, depending on the stat.
